The course explores typical development stages and how SEND may affect each area of a child’s development. You will learn how to spot early signs of developmental delay or special educational needs. The course also covers how to observe, record, and respond to each child’s individual needs. You will gain practical strategies to support children with SEND at every stage of their development. This training encourages inclusive practice and helps you create a supportive early years environment. You will also explore how to communicate with parents and involve other professionals when needed. The course outlines the SENCO’s role and how to follow correct procedures in your setting. It aligns with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and Ofsted expectations across the UK. Description & Learning Objectives
The Child Development And SEND Level 2 course has been designed for early years practitioners. Allowing them to understand special educational needs (SEN) and what they mean for children in the setting. It will also consider the expectations of settings in this area of practice.
The course will explore the role of the special educational needs co-ordinator (SENCO) and discuss what that means for each setting. This will include the expectations that are placed on settings that will allow them to support the needs of all children – including those with special needs.

Child Development And SEND Level 2
