Description & Learning Objectives

The Child Development And SEND Level 2 course has been designed for early years practitioners. Allowing them to understand special educational needs (SEN) and what they mean for children in the setting. It will also consider the expectations of settings in this area of practice.

The course will explore the role of the special educational needs co-ordinator (SENCO) and discuss what that means for each setting. This will include the expectations that are placed on settings that will allow them to support the needs of all children – including those with special needs.

The learning outcomes for this course are as follows:

  • To consider the requirements for early years providers.

  • To look at the role of the SENCO.

  • To discuss SEND support in the early years.

  • To explore strategies for helping children with SEND.
